Favorite Holiday Activity
Christmas starts at Debra's house on a weekend around the 15th of the month. They have a big family dinner and afterwards, decorate the Christmas tree. Debra loves taking out boxes of ornaments and reminiscing about traditions, old and new. For example, this year there will be new ornaments for her daughter's favorite movie, Frozen.
3 Tips: Taming the Holiday Calendar to Make Time for You
Debra is a business strategist and coach (DebraAngilletta.com), who works with women starting businesses, most often after successful corporate careers. She started her business so she could spend more time with her daughter Eva. Debra's goals mean learning how to manage a tight schedule so she get's everything done, including her personal time at the gym every week.
So of course, Debra's holiday tips are about managing your time during the holidays, so you can honor family traditions and (a big AND) make time for yourself.
- Take family traditions and tweak them to fit your lifestyle. By respecting the essence of each tradition, family members will support your changes and some might wonder “why didn't I didn't think of that.
- Schedule time for yourself during the holidays. This is a great time of year to take vacation time, to relax and re-energize for the coming year.
- Take time to connect with friends, preferably in person as that's where you can really see how a person is feeling. If you're unable to connect in person, then Skype or Facetime offer an alternative to waiting 3 to 6 months, or longer.
