Everyone loves the holidays but often we (women) try to do too much. It’s easy to end up so exhausted we don’t enjoy ourselves. That’s why we’re hosting experts to share 24 holiday tips to help you re-balance how you spend your time and money during this holiday season. We hope you enjoy these tips about listening to family members and creating your own unique holiday traditions
Favorite Holiday Activity
Marilyn loves a tradition she started years ago. It's “kids choice Christmas dinner” and Marilyn's kids have been picking the menu forever (or so it seems). They've had macaroni and cheese, McDonald's Happy Meals and last year is was spaghetti and salad. This year … homemade hamburgers!
3 Tips: Unique Holiday Traditions & Christmas Dinner
Marilyn Porter offers personal development training for young adults, and coaching programs for women between 35 and 65. She's an expert in listening to people and bringing out the best in them. So it's no surprise that she's as committed to this with her children and the holidays, like her kids choice dinner.
Here are Marilyn's (MarilynEPorter.com) holiday tips for making the holidays resonate with everyone involved, because she listens to everyone and includes what's special to them in her holiday traditions.
- Relax and listen to what your family wants, versus struggling to guess what people want. It's easier and the results will be much more satisfying for everyone. Marilyn loves her kids choices for Christmas dinner, as they're much easier to prepare.
- Enjoy the moment and if that means having a messy place, that's perfectly fine. Marilyn shared the story about wrapping paper and how it's more important to leave the mess, so you have the time and energy to watch your kids open their gifts.
- Create fun, family traditions and now you know the reason for cassette tapes. Holiday music is important and it would be easier to copy the family's old cassettes to digital. Instead, Marilyn's family loves the challenge of finding a working cassette player each year. Their favorite songs – Dreaming of a White Christmas and Baby, It's Cold Outside.

Most Important Holiday Goal
Remembering that the holidays are about being grateful for everything we have. It's also a great time to remind others why we celebrate this wonderful holiday.
