It's hard to remember phones attached to the wall, as who doesn't have a cell phone today. And our phones are so much more than a phone with built-in cameras, GPS and a boom box you can program. In many ways our phones are becoming an extension of who we are, with the apps we can run on them. So it's no surprise that we can now talk to the delivery man at the front door of our house, from the office or halfway around the world. That is if you've gotten a digital doorbell from SkyBell, with an app that communicates between your home and your phone.
Features of the Digital Doorbell from SkyBell
The digital doorbell is much more than your old fashion doorbell that played some chimes to tell you someone was at the door, but you had to be home to hear it. The technology in this doorbell is the same technology in your phone – a microphone and speaker, a video camera, an antenna to connect the doorbell to your smart phone, and a computer to run the app.
So how will this new gadget simplify your life?
- When anyone presses the doorbell, you'll get an alert on your smartphone … and a livestream, so you can see who's there and decide if you want to talk to them. It's like checking caller-id before answering your phone.
- You can see and interact with visitors at your front door using your smart phone, and the SkyBell app. If you're busy in the kitchen, you can welcome your friends into your home … super convenient if you've got your hands full with food preparation, gardening or kid's homework.
- Skybell's digital doorbell offers the security of an alert when the camera senses someone at your house, with it's rotatable camera and invisible night vision technology.
Installing Your Digital Doorbell
Skybell's digital door bell is as easy to install as old fashion doorbells. It Your existing doorbell chime will still work, and it will connect to your home's wireless system. There's a security set screw so only you can remove the doorbell once installed.
Wondering if it's real? Watch the video to see it in action, or visit Skybell.com to learn more about the technology behind this exciting new doorbell.
So cool! I think I need to get one of those. It would be even better if it has a mode where it didn’t use the chime… but that’s maybe just for those that have children who nap.
Brandy, I’m pretty certain you can disconnect the chime if you want. I’m not sure I’m ready for all this automation when each device has it’s on app, so I’d love to hear about your experience using the SkyBell.
