Furniture is functional and occasionally it can be fun too. And this weeks fabulous Friday find is incredibly creative end table that's truly based on someone thinking outside the box. Built like any butcher block furniture, this end table is designed to integrate books into the block with book titles showing on the top, arranged artfully so you can read the titles … and one of my all time favorite books is there, The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand.
Beyond This End Table, What Can You Imagine?
So for fun (remember it's fun Friday), let's try to imagine the different ways you could take this idea and adopt it to other pieces of furniture besides an end table. And please add your own ideas below.
- For fun, let's start with bookends … that include a book.
- Imagine a larger coffee table, that might include books on either end of the table.
- Raise the table up and include books in a kitchen or dining room table, with thick sides to support the width of the books. You might also need a glass table top to protect the books.
- Make a desk with school books … too funny, and you'll have to pick subject most people like.
Think Outside the Box – What Else Can You Add to Furniture?
One of the things I love about embedding books in furniture, it keeps the idea of physical books alive in a world where more and more people are reading digital books. So what else are people doing with books, as recycling is all the rage now and there are some fun projects around the web (photos via Pinterest, Decorating and Furniture board ).
We hope these creative furniture pieces like the end table with books, have sparked your imagination. For lots more creative furniture ideas, check out www.hongkiat.com and www.instantshift.com … and of course you can always browse Pinterest, Houzz or Google images, so have fun.
